What we collect when you order a Market Review, why, and what we do with it.
What the form collects
Your business name, city or neighborhood, type of business, email and the plan you choose. If you pick your business from the suggestions, we also keep its address and Google's ID for it. Your website, up to 3 competitors and what you most want to learn from your Market Review are optional. With your order we also record the time you sent it, your country (worked out from your internet connection) and which page of this site you sent it from.
Why we collect it
To research your market, build your Market Review, and contact you about it. We don't use it for anything else.
Where it's kept
In Market Review's storage on Cloudflare, and in an email to Market Review's owner, sent through Cloudflare Email Routing.
Business suggestions
The order form can suggest businesses as you type your business name or a competitor's name. To find matches, what you type in that field is sent to Google, along with the city or neighborhood you entered in the form. If you haven't entered one, we send an approximate location instead: the city your internet connection appears to be in. We don't store that location. Nothing else you enter in the form is sent to Google.
If you pick a business, we keep its name, its address and Google's ID for that business. When you pick your own business, we may fill in your website and city or neighborhood from Google, but only if you've left them blank. You can change or clear them before you send the form.
If you don't want a competitor looked up, leave that field blank.
Payments
Stripe handles every payment. You enter your card on Stripe's page, not ours. Stripe receives your email, your card and billing details, and a reference to your business so we can match your payment to your Market Review. That reference is never your private link.
Market Review never sees or stores your card number. From Stripe we see your email, the status of your subscription and what you've paid.
Stripe emails your receipts and, when you ask to manage your subscription, the way in to its page. Stripe uses your details under its own privacy policy, at stripe.com/privacy.
Stopping repeat requests
To stop spam, we keep a scrambled code made from your internet address and the current hour. We use it only to spot repeat requests, and it's deleted after an hour. We don't store your internet address itself. We do the same for business suggestions.
How long we keep it
12 months, then we delete it. You can ask us to delete it sooner by emailing hello@marketreview.net.
What we never do
We don't sell your information, share it for advertising, or add you to a mailing list you didn't ask for.
Cookies and tracking
This site sets no cookies and runs no ads. To count visits we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which records page views, the site that sent you, your country and your type of device, without cookies and without building a profile of you. We don't track visitors across other sites, so a Do Not Track signal doesn't change anything here. Stripe's payment pages are Stripe's own and may set cookies there.
The Demo Market Reviews and subscriber reports load a font from Google Fonts, so Google receives your internet address when you open them.
Your Market Review
Your Market Review lives at a private link. Anyone with the link can open it, so share it with care. It's hidden from search engines, and links from your Market Review to other websites don't pass its address on. Your theme choice is saved in your own browser only.
The actions you tick are saved with us, so they show on every device you open your Market Review on. For each one we keep which action it is, which Market Review it is in, whether it's ticked and when you changed it. We file them under a scrambled code made from your private link. The code can't be used to open your Market Review, and we don't store your internet address with it. We keep them while your Market Review is open and delete them when you leave. On a Demo Market Review, ticks stay in your browser.
Information about other businesses
A Market Review uses public information about other businesses: prices, services and offers from their websites, Google ratings and review counts, public news, and, for restaurants, delivery-app listings, ratings and menu prices. We summarize reviews in our own words and never republish them.
Market-wide figures we publish
We publish Market Snapshots: figures for a whole local market, such as a median price or a median Google rating. They name no business. Public information about the businesses in a market may be counted in those figures. If you subscribe, that includes your own business: the prices you publish and your Google rating. Nothing you give us, and nothing from your private Market Review, is published.
Delete or correct your details
Email hello@marketreview.net and we'll delete or correct them. For your card or billing details, use Manage subscription in your Market Review or ask us, and we'll do it in Stripe.
